Acer is reportedly in talks with leading mobile networks to supply its Aspire One netbook with 3G connections. The PC manufacturers is talking to T-Mobile, Vodafone and Orange about potential deals in Europe, according to a report on PCWorld.com.

The low-cost Aspire One has built-in 802.11b/g, but Acer has left room inside the laptop to install a 3G card.

The laptop costs £225, but the mobile networks will almost certainly give the Aspire One away for free or at a heavily subsidised price to customers who sign up for 18 or 24-month deals.

Carphone Warehouse began offering a free Fujitsu Siemens laptop to customers on Orange’s £30-per-month 3G tariff earlier this year, while PC World already offers other Acer Aspire laptops for free to customers signing £30-a-month deals with 3.
