With the announcement of the Dell Inspiron 910 (aka Dell Mini) going to launch for £199 in the UK on the 22nd August, early rumours suggest you can see Acer and Asus dropping their prices on their netbooks shortly after.
Problem is, I hear that the Dell E is going to cost over $700! Crazy.
Other than the tech challenge of adding memory (what sadist thought that up?), My AA1 is a jewel.
Unfortunately I have to hide it from my teenage daughters, or they walk off with it.
I had hoped the Dell would be in the $400 range, and I would donate it to my Facebook addicts
We’ll see…
Dunno where you heard that. I heard it was going to be $299.
This is very similar to the One. It appears only to have one RAM slot and one SD card slot but apart from that it seems almost identical.
I still prefer the look of the One. Now if only play.com could pull their finger out and actually send me mine, I’d be happy.

I was holding out on a purchase for the final specs of the Dell 910 because it is so similar to the One and supposedly cheaper, but today I finally decided that I just can’t stand the fact that the dell does not have the F1-F12 keys. It looks like it’s missing a bunch of other keys like Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Insert, Delete. I imagine at least some of these will be implemented using a Fn-key, but that would annoy me to no end.
FWIW, Buy.com has the 8GB Linux One in stock for $379, and I found a coupon to get it for $364 shipped.
by how much do you think the AA1’s price will drop when the new netbooks (from lenovo and dell) appear? Thanks.
been wracking my brain lately if i should get the aa1 now or later. my fingers are burning for the AA1.
In the UK PCWorld are now listing the blue AA1 for £199. There is a 5% voucher code around too bringing it down to £189 delivered.
I’ve just cancelled my play.com preorder (£199) and ordered from PC World.
The Dell may be nice, but I doubt it will be less than £189, and who knows when they will be available in quantity?
Anyone know where to find the PCWorld voucher code referred to by soldana? Have searched the usual suspects and can’t find any current code to cover this. Thanks.

Thanks to Soldana, I now have an Aspire on order at PC World, who unlike play.con actually have stock and with this code are cheaper!

Thank you soldana and gadgetmind. Good lead for both Aspire One and voucher. Buy through Quidco for additional cashback.
I forgot to mention Quidco - this has tracked at £9.45 for me, meaning I should end up paying £179.60 ![]()
