In less than 3 months of their launch, we are witnessing a decent price drop on the Aspire ONE netbooks. Here are the new pricing details for respective models:
The official announcement has been made. It should take a few days for this pricing to reflect with retailers.

(no word about UK price drops though yet)
Why only for the US?
As an aside according to the register an XP with upgraded 160GB HDD and 6 Cell battery is planned.

Could, please, anybody help with official press release from Acer about price dropping? Our shop informed me, that they will decrease the price, if I show them official release from Acer.
Thanks a lot.
Check http://www.businesswire.com for Acer’s latest releases (they seem slow to post these on the official Acer sites).
Here’s the URL for the Aspire One price reduction press release (it’s an awful URL but it should work):

Hope that helps!
I was going to buy an XP model this weekend, but I’d like to see how the 160GB, 6-cell shapes up first.
And the UK?
Sorry, but afik (I’m a U.S. business journalist so I know more about that market), there isn’t a UK-specific press release as of yet.
BusinessWire has French and German versions that focus on European press releases and they don’t have any Acer stuff at the moment, fwiw.
Thanks. It has just to be a question of time (when, rather than if). Probably depends on the release date of the Dell 910 in the UK. One thing is for sure, though - I shan’t be buying one until the UK price drops and the 6 cell battery’s included.
Woah! My area Micro Center store (US) already dropped prices on the two existing models. Maybe I’ll get the XP one today afterall.

They have 169 of them in stock now, lol.
Hey I went ahead and got one today at the $349 price:

Alas, it turns out my HP only has a WiFi adapter, not an access point; and my slightly old Buffalo Router is missing the power cord thanks to my absent mindedness. So Internet testing for me has to wait
In the U.S., Best Buy has also started carrying the current XP/hard drive model at the reduced $349 price (saw it in Sunday newspaper ads today).
Can someone explain to me why only a week after this announcement that prices were going down, prices in Canada have gone UP!?
Future Shop used to sell the Acer Aspire One for $349. That price was advertised on their website last week. Today, I went in the store to buy one and was shocked to find that the cheapest one was $399. When I asked about the website, they said those were the old prices and the new price took effect just today. I checked the website and they are indeed now listed at #399 and up.
Why?
Where can I order on online? (The newest version).
