The Aspire One ZG5 only supports 1.5Gb of ram, hence your 2Gb won't work.

The slot underneath with the two screw holes I believe is also for an optional 3G module.

I don't think it's the hard drive. I made that same mistake on mine as well. I cloned the hard drive and put that in and it seemed to work great after having to flash the BIOS since the screen stopped working. I have noticed several problems with this little unit while owning this netbook. After switching out the hard drive like I said it worked great. Then I started to listen to music on youtube. Then after a few songs it started to sputter and go crazy again. I was thinking to myself how can two HDD's go that quickly. Especially when the original unit was a fairly decent brand. I did notice after I switched HDD's it runs a little cooler but it's not a huge difference. I then flashed my BIOS again following word for word the instructions for flashing BIOS from Acer. Guess what it stopped acting crazy. But I think that it has something to do with having the volume all the way up and and the constant rythm of music being played. Then for some reason that makes the computer go coo koo. I happen to have ran across some other websites that seem to say that Acer has a problem with their BIOS. I'm not sure if it's all their computers or just these Aspire One's. Another problem area I have personally have had was the key board. But that was partially from allowing my teenage Daughter use it with her gummy hands while eating. But after explaining to her to keep her hands clean and replacing the keyboard it has been fine since then.

Recently found Insyde Market for all my app needs.
http://www.insydemarket.com/dispPageBox/AndHp.aspx?ddsPageID=ISYMRKEN
Originally, i was pretty disappointed when i found no ANdroid Market app link, but since you can DL 3rd party apps through the OS, having the Insyde Market is pretty much a replacement for Android Market.
