Hi, everybody.

First post and bad news.... mine died too. :(
This is the second unit I return to the shop, the first one had the random black screen problem described in this thread :
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1566

The last one has the same symptom described here, I upgrade the bios to 3114 version and installed XP the first day and it was working perfectly until now (9 days without problems).

Perhaps it is a bios related problem, because the last thing I did was to change the D2D param in the bios to "disable" and then choose "save&restart". Well, after that, simply it not even post.

I tried to replug the ac conector and I saw an extrange blink in the power led and when I turned it on, nothing happens.
Again I tried to unplug the ac conector and use the battery... the same thing.
Eventually i've returned it to the shop but they tell me they will send it to acer and the repair could take him about 90 days(bearing in mind that it's holidays time)!!?!

So I haven't a good experience with this netbook, I hope this won't be a generalized problem, because I think it is a good netbook, but for the moment not too much reliable.

For those thinking it's a BIOS problem, this may be useful.

That looks great!! However even if it works it still doesn't help sort out the root cause.

In any case I wouldn't want to have to reset the Bios every 1-2 weeks

Where did you get the v.3109 version? From the Acer FTP site?

You keep me smile macles :) Thanks for your report beano but mine not with me for now. I am not sure local Acer service center have knowledge about this flash procedure.

@Achilles
Waiting for your report.

@schmitzoide
I have the original BIOS version using flashit.exe backup procedure before upgraded my BIOS to 0.3114.

I did a search on these forums - it's in the BIOS Driver/Downloads section. v.3109 seems no longer available from the Acer FTP site! I can't tell you how relieved I am, and hope this works for the rest of you with "dead" Ones - it should. Just take your time and follow macles' instructions EXACTLY.

Whew! :lol:

PS My machines seem quieter with v.3109 anyway, so this is a plus all around.
