Cannot install linpus lite from USB

Postby titiung » Thu Mar 26, 2009 2:47 am

I tried to install linpus lite using both ISO images of linpus lite and AAO recovery linpus lite
I use Unetbooting to transfer to USB

boot from USB successfully, but I always stuck at the loading screen. It doesn't load the installation process

At the loading screen, the progress bar doesn't move at all.

Please help me ! :(

If I recall correctly if you run the AAO recovery disk, you get an option to prepare a USB stick. I would use that route, rather then use Unetbooting. Maybe it can be done with that too, but I have not tried that.

I have the exact same problem today. Did you solved it?

Hi all,

After trying many things I finally solved the problem using the recovery Linpus iso from here: http://download.trrunde.org//upload/AAO_v1-0-15E.iso.
Using another PC I burnt it on a DVD and boot it. Then I selected the 2nd option to make a bootable USB stick and inserted a 2GB LG key.
The first try gave a kernel panic (MAJ + Ver Num LED blinking) after a few seconds.
So I tried on a different PC and it worked!
Then I booted my Acer on the "just made" USB stick using F12 and the installation process went well.

If it can help someone...

I'm having the same problem, and am getting v.near my wits end...

I installed WinXP on my AAO150 which originally came with Linux Linpus. The Win install went through fine and I used the machine for a couple of weeks, but now I need to restore the Linux (dont' ask!). The trouble is, the Linpus recovery CD which came with the AAO doesn't seem to work. When I boot my desktop PC from that, in order to created a bootable USB stick (I haven't got an external CD drive), it starts fine but when it's meant to start copying the files over it gives 'error 39' and tells me to report this to Linpus.com. (I did that a couple of weeks ago and needless to say, they never came back.) I've tried several times using various USB sticks and even an external USB hard drive, but nothing works.

I then downloaded the LinpusLite.iso file from the web (can't remember the URL now, but I got it from this forum) and put that onto a USB drive using Unetbootin (again using my desktop PC). It seemed to go through fine, but when I then tried to boot the AAO with that, it gave various errors and failed. Or if I just let it go through on the default settings, it shows the Linpus load screen but the progress bar doesn't move at all; the CapsLock light keeps flashing, in case this means anything, but nothing else happens.

I even put the LinpusLite.iso directly onto the AAO hard disk, extracted it to create a 'barebones' Linux installation locally, as instructed in the Unetbootin documentation. This seemed to also go through fine, and on the bootup menu it now offers the multiboot options of WinXP and Linpus, but when I choose the latter it again gets stuck on the loading screen with the progress bar not moving etc. Eventually I have to do a hard power down.

If anyone has any suggestions for an *idiotproof* way of dropping the Linpus thingy back onto the AAO, I'd be VERY grateful indeed! Thanks!!!
