AA1 deep inside

Hi,
I'm Franco, from Italy.

In my picasa photoalbum, some photos of inner parts of my AA1 http://picasaweb.google.it/FFurcas/AA1

Modifications:
added 1GB SODIMM 533 MHz module
Projects:
adding a 1,8" hard disk drive (searching for a cheap drive on baybay )

Software stuff:
installed Ubuntu Hardy 8.4.0.1
compiz with desktop effects (rotating cube etc...)
I've the same known problems with SD card readers (recongnized only if they're in their slots at boot)
WiFi is working fine with madwifi (no led activity)
I've installed a little BT dongle and now can use a BT GPS antenna for navigation (Ozi Explorer + Wine)
Tried Gpsdrive, but experimented some problems due screen resolution.

Wish list:
discover if it's possible to enable the second mini PCI express interface (applying a 52 pins socket not soldered in factory) for future integration of 3g PCI-X module (not worried about warranties... I prefer freedom in experimentations);
a good solution for SD card readers problems;
a really good car navigation system running under Linux.

I want an extra mini-pci-e too. But dsoldering 52 pins that small is no mean feat.
I would probably install a usb hub into the slot if I did solder one on, I don't need 3g, and if I do, I dont mind carrying carrying a tiny data card, or I could even integrate it into the pci-e usb hub.

It's not the only problem: It's possibile that part of the electronic used for correct working of that pci-x socket has not been installed too

It's true. Perhaps it is easer to use estra space dedicated to the 2nd pci-x module to install an usb-based device

I had messed up the keyboard connector when adding ram and I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to be (the little black clip on it), but thanks to your high res pictures I saw the pins were supposed to be ABOVE the black clip when it's closed... and now my one is fixed :')
