How to reset your password.

Postby alf » Fri Jul 18, 2008 8:18 am

Just for your general info.

(After geting my machine replaced due to a hardware issue, i finally got time to play around with the machine)

The password that you enter on setup is your root password. The shop guy who demoed the machine tat it was working, failed to tell me what password he was using.

Thankfully, the machine's sudo mechanism is set up improperly.

So those who need to reset their passwords can do the following:

Files -> File Manager -> Terminal

Key in 'sudo bash' (w/o the quotes)
This will run bash as the root user.
Then type 'passwd' (w/o quotes again) to reset your password.

Tadah.

Thankyou very much.

Has been extremely helpful as I bought the "exhibition" one... and nobody at the shop seems to know (and to care) about the password. :)

hi! another suggestion, you can do it by using these 2 steps:

1. terminal
2. sudo passwd
on my 12th linpus reinstall. i had Ubuntu Netbook and XP, but nothing beats the fast-on/fast-off advantage of Linpus lite.
